Business Profile:
Michael and Amy Moore established ‘Moore’s Gourmet Butchery’ in 2008. The shop (then ‘North Epping Quality Meat’) was purchased from Ken Wilks and Giavano Gallo who ran a successful business for the previous ten years.
Michael Moore has had previous experience in small independent butcher shops. He was part-owner of High Quality Meat, first at Merrylands then Knightsbridge, Castle Hill. In both locations High Quality Meat had the respect and long time patronage of the local community.

Michael oversaw the relocation to Knightsbridge, Castle Hill and was responsible for marketing and business planning as well as the many practical tasks of managing and working in the shop.

“I am so excited about opening Moore’s Gourmet Butchery at North Epping” Michael declares, “There’s a great community atmosphere and Ken and Christine have established a fantastic rapport with their customers. I’m looking forward to taking it to the next level”

Evidence of the high standards of quality and service under the leadership of Michael Moore is seen through the multitude of awards that High Quality Meat attained. His previous business encountered continued success in the Western Sydney Sausage King Awards and The Royal Agricultural Society Fine Foods Award. On a personal level, Michael has always set a high standard when it comes to his own customer service and workmanship. “Customers respect and are attracted to his genuine manner and the way he really wants to meet their needs,” explains his wife and business partner Amy.

The mission of Moore’s Gourmet Butchery is to provide North Epping residents and surrounds with a gourmet butchery shop specialising in superior service and high quality meat/ meat products.

The last ten years have seen an increase in Australia’s explorations of foreign and gourmet foods. Whether this can be attributed to celebrity chefs, travel to foreign countries, new health diets, or the increasing accessibility of once-obscure ingredients, it seems that gourmet and adventurous palates are here to stay. Cultural influences to the family menu have added complexity to preparing the evening meal. Moore’s Gourmet Butchery will offer a range of gourmet items influenced from tastes all over the globe, thus meeting the demand of the North Epping households who don’t have time to create gourmet meals and providing interest to those who haven’t yet had the time to cook and sample such meals in their own homes.

Michael has always fostered and valued new ideas and initiative regarding sausage varieties and meat products within his store. He strives to keep abreast of new developments in the Meat Industry through membership of industry organisations and attendance at conferences held by the National Meat Association thus continuing to develop his store and maintaining an enthusiastic and exciting store culture.

Michael Moore worked through the ranks of the meat department of Woolworths Supermarket for the duration of his Apprenticeship (from 1994 to 1998). During this time he was awarded numerous personal awards in the meat industry - Granville Rotary Club Apprentice of the Year (1995), The Paul Simons Award (1995), Woolworths Apprentice of the year NSW (1996) and Semi Finalist for 1997 Mitre 10 NSW Training Awards, as well as competing in and winning numerous TAFE competitions regarding new innovations in the industry. Michael holds an Advanced Certificate in Butchery (‘Master Butcher’) due to the range of additional courses completed- from Smallgoods to Meat Marketing.  The numerous awards won by Michael and his store has attracted ongoing media interest (see our ‘News’ link).

Moore’s Gourmet Butchery supports Samaritan’s Purse through the sale of dog bones in the store. Through ‘Wishbones’ all profit from the sale of dog bones goes towards buying a brood of chicks for different families in Latin America, South East Asia and Africa. (See more about this initiative in our in-store display or by clicking the wishbones link) Keep your eyes peeled for updates on this exciting program!
